Elopements and small intimate weddings in the Napa Valley and Sonoma County are growing in popularity every year. Although not a great fit for everyone, eloping is often a perfect fit for many couples on a budget who want to have a gorgeous, unforgettable wedding in one of the most beautiful destination wedding spots in the nation, without the price tag and often the stresses of planning a wedding. Many wedding planners in the area offer elopement packages that range from simple consultations to having your wedding planner more or less design your wedding day and simply get your thumbs up. In such a case, the bride and groom, and whatever guests and family they may have invited along, really only need to be concerned about showing up on time and sticking to their itinerary. Their only other responsibility is enjoying every moment, from the rehearsal dinner, to special events that may have been planned like a night on the Wine Train, or Dinner Mystery Theater.

But what may come as a surprise to many couples looking to have a small destination wedding or elopement in Napa, is that there are actually very few Napa wineries that offer elopement of wedding packages. So where is the best place to elope in Napa county?

Most Sonoma wedding sites, just a quick drive from Napa Valley, do allow both weddings and elopements. This may be a great start. But for individuals set on eloping in Napa, finding a Napa elopement site is a little more tricky. Brainstorming with your planner will probably be a great leaping off point. But one of the most popular spots to elope in Napa County, which are legal wedding venues are Auberge Du Soleil, which offers absolutely gorgeous views of the entire valley. Private Estates occasionally will be able to host a wedding or event.

This group destination elopement represented international guests and a multi-cultural wedding ceremony that took place at a private estate in Napa, with a guest list of only about 20. Most private estates are exclusively available through wedding planners, so be sure to ask your wedding planner about what may be available to you.
